Pollution Control
Emissions caused by air travel account for "only" 2 - 3 percent of global emissions. Nonetheless, emissions from aviation are growing faster than those from many other sectors.
WWATC monitors figures related to such emissions. With hundreds of flights every day, WWATC now accounts hundreds of millions of datasets.
According to new EU regulations effective March 2011, airlines that want a share of free pollution permits must provide detailed information about the amounts of goods and passengers they carried in 2010. By spring 2013, airlines need to hand over the first permits to compensate for flights made the previous year.
WWATC provides a independent monitoring service for the emission of airlines worldwide. Service is provided one airline, country and region on weekly basis.
